Healing Unresolved Trauma: A Self-Paced Course and Workbook
About Course
Some things do not stay in the past. They show up in how you sleep, how sharply you react, how close you let people get, and how hard it is to rest when nothing is wrong.
You have probably tried to deal with the pieces separately. The temper. The dating pattern. The drinking, or the working, or the scrolling until two in the morning. Each one treated as its own problem. Each one improving for a while and then coming back.
This course goes to the thing underneath them.
Who this is for
Adults carrying something that still shapes daily life, whether it has a name yet or not. You do not need a diagnosis and you do not need to be in crisis. If something happened years ago that everyone including you agreed was over, and it is still making decisions for you, you are in the right place.
How it works
Nine modules, self-paced, lifetime access. Each module is a video of around eighteen minutes and a section of the workbook you write in directly, on screen or on paper. The whole workbook runs to 110 pages and 335 places where you answer for yourself rather than read what somebody else concluded.
The course runs on one picture, held from the first page to the last. You are living in a house you did not build. Someone else poured the foundation, ran the wiring, set the alarm. Each module opens a different part of the building.
What you will be able to do
- Say what trauma actually is, in terms narrower and more useful than the way the word gets used now
- Read your own reactions as a nervous system doing its job badly, rather than as a character defect
- Trace the symptoms in your life now back to where they started
- Know what to do in the ninety seconds after a trigger fires
- Meet the child who learned it first, without drowning in it
- Recognise a trauma bond, including one you may currently be inside
- Let people close again without handing the keys to everybody who knocks
Why I built it
Most people who need this work cannot start with a therapist, whether because of cost, distance, or readiness. I built this so there is somewhere real to begin, in your own time, without having to explain yourself to anybody first.
It is not therapy and it does not pretend to be. It is the structure I would take a client through in the first months, written down, with the exercises intact.
Before you start
This work stirs things up. That is how it operates, not a sign that something has gone wrong. The opening section teaches a grounding practice before you need it, marks the heavier material in advance, and sets out clearly when the right move is to stop and speak to somebody. Verified crisis resources are included in every module file.
If you are currently in a situation where you are not safe, do not start here. Speak to someone first. The opening section tells you where.
Common questions
How long does the course take? Most people take eight to twelve weeks, one module a week with time to do the exercises. There is no schedule and no expiry. Some people take a year.
Do I need a diagnosis? No. The course is built for people who know something is wrong and have never had it named.
Is this therapy? No. It is psychoeducation and structured self-work, written by a licensed consultant psychologist. It works well alongside therapy and it is not a replacement for it.
Can I do it if I am already seeing a therapist? Yes, and many people do. Bring the workbook pages to your sessions.
What if a module is too much? Stop. The pause mark tells you when heavier material is coming, and the workbook explains how to come back to it later. Nothing here has a deadline.
Do I get the workbook separately? Each module carries its own section as a downloadable PDF you can type into or print. You keep them.
Who wrote it? Godfrey Mwangi, consultant psychologist and MHPSS systems specialist, based in Nairobi, with over twelve years of work across corporate teams, NGOs and humanitarian agencies in East Africa and beyond.
